Over the last year Network West has been a partner in an exciting project funded by ACFE to assist training providers to strengthen themselves in the lead up to the Skills Victoria reforms.

Network West partnered with five Neighbourhood Houses in Moonee Valley and Melbourne on a Shared Services Project.

Neighbourhood Houses in Melbourne's West Celebrate Neighbourhood House Week

00/00/

A recent survey showed that Western Suburbs Neighbourhood Houses receive an average of over 650 visitors in any week and over 30 000 people are expected to visit this week and participate in their local community.

Neighbourhood Houses and Community Centres also provide hundreds of hours of activities and learning in any given week, but this week is special.

May 10-16 is Neighbourhood House Week and the 45 centres in the western suburbs are hosting a cavalcade of exciting activities to celebrate.

Today is an important day in the history of Women's rights and Pay Equity.

Our Union has today launch a campaign to raise awareness of the massive gap between our wages and those of our male counterparts.

This campaign is the national one to go alongside our own Victorian Respect Campaign
Pay Up - No More Lipservice to Equal Pay.

Have you heard about the Community Gateways Project at VU?

00/00/

The uni has been trialling running careers counselling sessions at outreach locations and they are even looking at a Mobile option (a truck that comes to you)!

They are reaching out to local community organisations to:
1) provide them with brochures/information on their courses to be able to refer people to our centres and

2) to have our centres host the truck for 1/2 - 1 day sometime over the next few months.

By Matilda Langley, Networker Network West and Australian Services Union Member
